Top 4: Adrian Doctolero Hails in the 2017 LET

Another alumnus of North Luzon Philippines State College made it again to the top 10 individual ranking of the September 2017 Licensure Examination for Teachers. The results were released last November 27, 2017 by the Professional Regulation Commission.

Adrian C. Doctolero, a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, was among the 92,754 takers of the nationwide Licensure Examination for Teachers in the secondary education category. He garnered a rating of 92.20%, securing him to the 4th spot. top41

Doctolero is a hardworking son of a laundry woman who promised to do his best in academics in order to help his family.

“Siyam na taong gulang palang ako nang mawalan kami ng ama at simula noon ay kinailangan ng maglabandera ni mama para lang makapag-aral kaming magkakapatid,” he said in the interview.

He is from Bolinao, Pangasinan, but he stayed with his aunt and cousins in San Nicolas, Candon City who financed his studies.

“It was so hard for me to see her suffering, so I promised to be the best for our family, to always work hard and do everything I can,” he added.

With his utmost determination and perseverance to finish college, he graduated as cum laude last May 2017. Immediately, he started preparing for the Licensure Exam and became a scholar at the Southern Tagalog Academic Review Services.

When asked about his preparation, he shared, “I believe that early preparation results in good outcome, so right after graduation, I already started reviewing for the board exam. I did not only rely from our review center since I aimed not only to pass but to top the LET. Aside from the review materials they provided, I also downloaded review materials from the Internet. I see to it that I answer and rationalize at least fifty questions a day. I also joined Facebook groups where teachers (who will also take the said Licensure Exam) can post questions and share discussions.”

All the efforts and sacrifices he poured into this venture were finally paid off.

“After I learned that I made it to the top 4, I felt like I was at the top of the world. I am really blessed and thankful to God for answering all our prayers. Truly, with God nothing is impossible.”

To inspire the next batch of examinees, he concluded that before doing something, one must have to dream big and aim for the top. It might be hard to achieve it, but it is not impossible at all. He encouragingly said that believing in oneself and having faith in God are the basic foundation of success. (Loyd Angelo M. Diana)
